Fashion – New Orleans

I was born in the Mississippi Delta and naturally migrated downstream to New Orleans. Finished a graduate program at the University of New Orleans and decided to stay in the city and rear my two children here. I started making headdresses while costuming during Mardi Gras. Costuming is a tradition in New Orleans because of Mardi Gras and various other activities. My creations have gone from headdresses to decorated feathered bustiers to nutria pelt bags and purses. Using feathers, appliques, alligator heads, oyster shells, Spanish moss and an assortment of other trinkets, I create headdresses that are both comfortable and adjustable. I sell on etsy.com and have sent headdresses, bustiers and nutria bags all over the United States, and even as far away as Bulgaria. I participate in art markets in New Orleans and across the Gulf Coast region.
