Visual Art – Reno

I was born and raised in Reno, NV. I moved to Hollywood for fun at age 18. I stayed in the L.A. area for 19 years. I attended night classes at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena for a couple of those years. My biggest career stint thus far was advertising director for Big Brother Skateboard Magazine (it\'s where Jackass was brought to life) which I did for 8 years until the publisher, Larry Flynt, shut it down. After that I moved to lovely Austin, TX for 5 years. I owned the Lowbrow Emporium with my now ex-husband. While at my shop, I started repurposing tin boxes and stuffed animals into purses which spawned some \"Plushy Road Kill\" art. In 2009 I quit drinking, split from the husband, and closed the shop. I returned to Reno in 2010. I participated in NadaDada 2011 with a \"Plushy Massacre\" installation. I got space at Junkee\'s antique mall in October 2011. I started upholstering taxidermy after acquiring elk head and pike fish mounts for the antique mall space. I enjoy decoupage and assemblage whereby one can take old tired things and turn them into fresh new things. I skated banked-track roller derby for 9 years with the L.A. Derby Dolls, TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls, and Reno Rollergirls as Daisy Mae Damage. I have a boyfriend name Kenny, brindle mutts named Ducky and Nena, and chickens named Laverne, Shirley, Rose, Blanche, Daphne and Velma. I like to eat candy and drink coffee.
