Film – Calgary

Born in Calgary, raised in Whitehorse, Yukon. Cut to me at fifteen, I had been working at the local movie theatre where I heard of a film coming out called \"Superbad\". More specifically I heard that Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg had originally written it while they were in high school. “Wait, I’m in high school, you’re telling me I can write a Superbad right now?” I was hooked. I researched screenplay format, read features online (while working at the theatre), and began to watch movies with a “how would you write that?” lens. The stuff I wrote was garbage, but it got me practicing, figuring it out, finding a voice and rhythm. By the time I graduated high school I had a rough understanding of movie scripts and filmmaking, so I enrolled in SAIT’s Film and Video Production program, a two-year diploma. From there I produced our class’ AMPIA award-winning short film “Prisoner 7” in 2011 and went on to co-write and co-direct my first film outside of school with Darryl M. Jordan entitled “There Are Strange Things Done in the Midnight Sun” (long titles, we like them) which was released in early 2012. A few music videos, feature screenplays, and my latest short, a Klondike western called “The Shooting of Dan McGrew” followed. I am now in the process of writing my third feature-length screenplay and preparing to shoot my next short film “Wolf Hands”, based on the local comic book of the same name.
