Visual Art – Kansas City

I started drawing when I was seven. Funny little cartoons. In High School I had a 1/2-day job working at a weekly sports publication, where I designed ads, did story illustrations. And put the paper together with wax. When I was 20, I began my career at Hallmark Cards as a designer, working in a variety of disciplines. I designed packaging. Developed new product, where I was awarded 4 United States Patents. And designed humor greeting cards. I also have a U.S. patent on a Christmas cap called, “Santa’s Ho! Ho! Hat!” that has sold all over the world, and appeared on The Today Show, and Late Night with David Letterman. In 2010, I published a book titled: “Where I’m Supposed To Belong,” about a trip I took to Europe. I rode a bike up L\'Alpe d\'Huez, in the French Alps. Soaked up The Mediterranean Sea, in Nice, France. Gazed up at the ancient Roman aqueduct, Le Pont du Gard, in Avignon, France. And strolled Barcelona, Spain. In the book, I reproduced sketches I did all along the way. The work I will be showing at RAW:Kansas City GLIMPSE is called: foundArtKC / reuse • recreate. Every unique element in foundArtKC was found in various scrap metal recycling plants around Kansas City, and Reused to Recreate, “something new.” I originally created this \"found art\" theme in New York City, and have been interested in assemblage art ever since I discovered the work of Joseph Cornell, which takes my breath away.
