Music – Montréal

Hailing all the way from Sherbrooke, Quebec, CONLEY is a force to be reckoned with. Writing, composing, and playing all instruments on her first EP, the set is the pure result of blue nights soaked in Joni Mitchell, Bon Iver and Eva Cassidy. A five-set piece of moody alterna-pop swinging back and forth into folk territories, propelled by a voice reminiscent of Martha Wainwright or even the golden age of Stevie Nicks. Simply put, CONLEY brings a magnifying glass on a pure, raw emotional spectrum. Born Sandrine Desrochers, the artist sings since early childhood, when she first set foot onstage to take the microphone and belt out some Christmas carols at hometown cathedral. This leading to academics with a classic tale of music school “dropout” due to lack of composing class and a little too much rigidity for the creative spirit. Recorded at home last year, through several months, the songstress collected five beautifully crafted songs in anticipation of a full length due out later this year. Which brings us to here, now. A place of beauty, honesty and true musicianship. A place she calls home and you will most likely too. Ladies, Gentlemen: make room for CONLEY.
