Ken Eccles

Visual Art – Canberra

Art as a relationship between the work and the viewer, though a basic concept, is one that didn\'t occur to Ken immediately. Even though he\'d been singing with gusto the incorrect lyrics to songs that he loved, all his life. So with that, Ken expects (and encourages) people to view his art as they are, not as he is (or was when he painted them). He is even deliberately ambiguous in what he puts on the canvas to cut himself out of the equation and leave the viewer no choice but to interact with the art themselves instead of wondering what he was thinking. Ken uses his art as a means of self-inquiry, informed by the extremes of the human experience, and hopes too that everyone walks away from his art with a new insight into themselves, and consequently their world.
