I Felt Fuzzy

Visual Art – Baltimore

Hi! I am a PhD candidate at Johns Hopkins SOM and when I have time I like to craft. At school I am a researcher in the biomedical sciences and am currently spending most of my day attempting to clone and Western Blot. On any given day where nothing seems to have worked in the lab, it\'s nice to come home and make something. This way I feel like I have been productive at some point during the day! Needle felting is also an effective stress relieving activity because you are literally stabbing at loose wool until it begins to condense - and in my case evolve into something cute - which makes me happy. I stumbled upon needle felting a while back after losing a pair of felt earrings and looking for ways to re-create them! Needle felting is the process of condensing loose wool by repeatedly stabbing the fibers with special needles. Eventually they condense and can be shaped by stabbing more in one place than another. It doesn\'t make a lot of sense when described but it somehow works amazingly!
