Visual Art – Raleigh

I am a painter and mixed media artist who simply loves to create and advocate for the importance of art in our schools and community. I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina studied fine arts including drawing, painting, sculpture and ceramics. I continued studying art in college and pursued my teaching license. I graduated in 2003 from Meredith College with a BA in Art and Education and have been passionately teaching art ever since. I went on to earn my National Boards for Professional Teaching Standards in Young Adult/Early Adolescent Art in 2007. This past spring I earned my M.A.Ed. in Art Education from East Carolina University. In addition to teaching scenic design, ceramics and visual art courses, I sponsor a chapter of the National Art Honor Society which aims to bring art education awareness to the school and community. As a Cultural Arts Representative through the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County, I work to bring artist workshops and residencies to my school. I am also involved with the North Carolina Art Education Association and hold the position of Chair of the General Assembly Youth Art Exhibit that recognizes and displays student work from across the state at the NC Legislative Building in Raleigh.
