Jeanine Hall - Artpreneur

Visual Art – Pittsburgh

It took me some time to realize I was an Art-preneur. I\'ve always embraced the culture of creating solutions instead of problems. Broke? Fix it. Don\'t know if an idea will work? Try it. Can\'t get into a gallery? Make your own. Fire Marshall walked into your artist co-op and gave you 30 days to get it up to code? Negotiate, write grants, get funded, make repairs, adapt organization so it doesn\'t happen again. It wasn\'t until I made the life decision stepping away from arts organizations to become the Director of Operations for Springboard Enterprises (mentoring for women of high growth companies) that the world of start-ups and entrepreneurs and creative business types became a thing for me. To that point I had quite the permanent line in the sand between the business world (which I wanted nothing to do with) and us creative arty types. Boy was I wrong. So here I am starting my thirties with a new outlook. I have fancy papers from prestigious colleges about ten years of work experience doing all kinds of crazy things. I received my BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and my master\'s from Carnegie Mellon University. I was apart of creating UnSmoke Artspace in Braddock, an key member revitalizing The Brew House Association and have been creating, exhibiting, and sell work since 2004. Currently, I create custom handmade silk curtains that use their functionality to bring fine art into any home.
