Visual Art – Seattle

Jennifer Haun Visual Artist, Photographer, Graphic Designer Surrounded by tumbleweeds and dirt roads leading to nowhere, I was born with a paintbrush in one hand and a fistful of glitter in the other, I was put here to be a creative being. I grew up in a less-than-ideal environment for any child, let alone a creative one, and found I was able to escape reality through artwork. When I could control nothing else in my life, I could create and control everything in my artwork compositions, subject matter, etc. Art saved me from a common, flat, and very limited life. I am grateful every day. I began creating visual art as soon as I developed the motor skills to do so. I started shooting photos in 2005 and began integrating photographs into my visual art soon after. My aesthetic/ style could be described as; eclectic, ethereal, dramatic, and uncommon. The inspiration for my work is drawn from a personal fascination with intriguing composition, an unexpected twist or message, bold pattern and color, and a love for a visual that captures you-that you must pause to take in fully. Music plays a large part in inspiring me in my art. I must have music playing to get into my “creative zone”. It allows my subconscious to drift and float, lulling my inner-critic to sleep. This way, I get to play unsupervised! What I love most about what I do is that there are no boundaries. I can incorporate any facet of visual expression with any other and create something beautiful. I love that it is challenging for me to describe my own artwork. As a professional Creative Director, I provide marketing services for an organization that writes grants for small or underprivileged credit unions and their communities nationwide. Utilizing my talents as a means of improving others’ lives is a true gift. It’s a lovely thing to be able to give back in a way that nourishes me as well.
