Visual Art – Wollongong

My name is Jess and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design at ACU in Sydney and I am the Co-Director of Now You See Me Gallery in Wollongong. I have always loved art and textiles from a very young age, dabbling in painting and drawing ever since I could hold a brush. I am particularly interested in printmaking, from lino to screen, I am also a wedding and maternity photographer, and also new to videography and graphic design. My art practice is a solace in the storms of life. For me, art is an adventure, while at the same time a meditation; it’s a release, and a connection. I find that I can say things with colour and shapes or a simple snap that I couldn’t say any other way; I’m able to communicate things that I had no words for. When we explore ourselves through creative self-expression, it brings us closer to who we actually are; art is an autobiography, we are essentially validating our presence in time. My art is a way for me to share person to person what I am passionate about, I enjoy the challenge, and often the simultaneous pleasure that art provides. It’s my peace.
