Accessories – Boston

Hello! My name is Julie. Thanks for taking the time to stop in and learn a little bit about me. I'll start by saying that writing about myself feels intimidating, I'm not really into tooting my own horn, and I am definitely no wordsmith. So don't say I didn't warn you! Ill do my best to tell you a little bit about myself personally, and how my jewelry biz came about. Because, to me, purchasing something stamped "handmade," without a story, meh. I know I like to know more. So, lets get this bio party started! So in 2003 I became a nurse. Since then I have been employed at the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, working with female offenders. I've always maintained that everybody needs a nurse at some point. I love what I do, but my passion is art. I have been oil painting for many years, I have done a handful of custom paintings for private buyers as well. But for the most part the walls of my home are covered with my own art. Oil painting, that's how this all started. I opened my Etsy shop in 2012 expecting to throw some paintings up and easily sell them. Looking back, I didn't know who I was kidding! Even though it was a passion of mine, it was very hard work. Maintaining a successful Etsy shop is hard work, and I wasn't quite ready to try hard enough to pursue it. Then I had two beautiful children. My focus quickly went from oil painting to crayola painting with the kids. My children are 4 (Ozzie) and 1.5 (Olive). Hopefully when they are a little older I will be able to pick up the brushes again. Fast forward to present time,I was recently cleaning out my craft bin and attempting to organize the piles of "stuff." Tons of craft stuff. (hence JulerysMess) I came across a bunch of beads I have been meaning to organize for the past 10 or so years, and pondered how I could put them to good use.. so I did. I started to attempt to bring creativity back into my life. It felt good. I thought to myself, wow these are nice, I should make a necklace. Since I am a working mother of two young kiddos, I'm never really put together. And sometimes its a bummer. Everyone else in the house is put together, but I'm too busy to put myself together. So I'll make myself something pretty, colorful, stylish.. to my standards, and easy to just throw on. Something I can quickly throw over my head. Something that will compliment various types of clothing, the necklines of my shirt will almost never interfere. Something easy, practical, and beautiful. I made my first necklace October 2017, a long colorful one, and I got compliments! Pretty shocked, I thought well I really enjoyed creating this, maybe I could make more and share them with the Etsy community. Maybe they would sell? Maybe others can easily look more squared away a school pick up and drop off too? Maybe others will really enjoy my product? Or even better, someone I don't know, has a fun night, happily wearing something I created, how cool would that be? So here I am ready to make that happen, this time working hard! I plan to bring in more bracelets and earrings soon. In the future, I hope to be able to bring in other forms of my artwork as well. Why just share this with family and friends when I can share my hard-work and creativity with the world! Everything you see here is made with nothing but my two hands. I do not use set designs or patterns. Each piece can take hours, even days to create. I have never had any formal art training, everything I do is self taught, and I continue to learn everyday. This is jewelry that is handpicked, designed, handmade, photographed, promoted, labeled, packaged and shipped by me. I even print and cut my own business cards by hand! I am a one women jewelry making operation. So there you have it folks, this is who I am, and how I started JulerysMess! I hope you enjoy browsing my tabel at the show! Please feel free to message me with any questions/suggestions/high fives etc.
