Julian (DRIPS) Grafenauer

Visual Art – Winnipeg

I grew up always being into drawing and art, drawing characters from TV shows and toys I was I liked as a kid. The love of art turned me onto comics. I was into mostly darker kind of comics artwork (Conan, Spawn, Alien, Predator ). Comics ended up being a large part of my childhood years and started to influence and give me a direction I wanted to go with my style of art, based of what I was attracted to as a kid. Those things changed as I got older, as most things do. As a teenager I started my appreciation and love for graffiti. That art style is what I was dedicated to for years and loved doing, and was another big contributor to the style of art I do today. The last thing that played a role in my style is my love for tattoos and the art that goes with it. The combination of growing up with the love of comic book art, graffiti, and tattoos has created the my style of art and the different ways I execute it whether it be a more simple and crisp black and white line-art, similar too a tattoo design, a crazy obnoxious and brightly colored piece, associated with graffiti, or an overly detailed piece like some comic book art.
