Julia Niederman

My name is Julia Niederman and I am a painter and designer living in Baltimore. I tend to paint either tiny canvases or huge ones. The large ones shown here are layered charcoal, acrylic, and oil. I’d say that my recent paintings have one thing in common: a struggle with the passage of time and the wish to immortalize a moment. Those unique moments of consciousness where a person becomes aware of themselves within a larger place later end up reflected as a fragmented picture of that time, a dreamlike collage of impressions warped by emotional memory.
