Visual Art – Brisbane

I first heard of airbrushing as a teenager when a family friend hung their airbrush art at a local café in Byron where I grew up. I recall being captivated by his artwork but never considered undertaking the medium myself until I saw the Airbrush Venturi course advertised at a Brisbane car show in 2003. I took a flyer from their booth and promised myself to add it to the 5 year plan. Ten years, two kids, one mortgage, a Masters in Nursing and a loving partner later I have finally found the time in the last year to complete the intermediate Venturi classes. I am now setup with my own corner of the household shed where I devote spare time to airbrushing portraits. I particularly enjoy working in black and white with textured faces. As of yet, I haven’t consciously set out to make big statements with my images but I hope to explore this in the coming year while completing advanced Venturi projects with an emphasis on hyperrealism, animal portraits and automotive paints.
