Katherine Klimitas

Visual Art – New Orleans

Katherine Klimitas is an artist and graphic designer who began painting and making art at the age of five. While her passion is creating watercolor paintings of her favorite animals, she also designs one-of-a-kind beaded jewelry with semi-precious and precious gemstones and takes commissions for watercolor pet portraits. After high school, Katherine chose to pursue a career in art and achieved a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Loyola University New Orleans in 2011. Although Katherine strives to lead a “normal” life, she has Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease) and has been wheelchair bound all of her life. Because art was something she could physically do when she was young, her career began early, selling her first piece at the age of ten. Her parents allowed her to gain experience in a sorts of media through grade school and high school, including glass blowing, sculpture, beading, painting, stained glass, metal work, print making, photography, and mosaic tiling. While her peers were out playing soccer and softball, she was busy learning about color, composition, and value, making and selling her work at various places in the Greater New Orleans area. Today, Katherine owns and operates KAK ART & Designs, LLC, a design firm that caters to both individuals and small businesses. She develops everything from logo and branding packages to wedding invitations and stationary. Meanwhile, she also continues painting vivid watercolor pieces of her favorite animals and exhibits in various events in Louisiana.
