Kalaéja Emaun is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Northern California. Her visionary artwork stems from drawing upon the energy that lies within the shadow side of the human psyche, and what is repressed within our culture. She bridges the gap between humanity's relationship with our animalistic nature at its raw core truth-which is often forgotten in today's society, or looked down upon. Her work touches heavily on the sacred thread that is woven within humans, animals, insects, plants, and mycelium. As she gathers information from the natural world, her own inner thoughts, truths, and battles within the mind, she is able to create, remember, and tell stories that are transferred onto paper. Emaun dives deep into the realms of magick, mysticism, and meditation-in which is also presented as inspirational foundations within her body of work.
