Kasandra Cheatle

Visual Art – Pittsburgh

I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing, Painting and Graphic Design. As an artist, I practice many disciplines, including watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting; ink; charcoal and graphite drawing; graphic design; and photography. My work is inspired by nature, the figure, and the Art Movement- Maximalism, using many layers of watercolor, ink, and compressed charcoal. I enjoy experimenting with and learning many different techniques that allow me to alter the characteristics of my media. Many of these include salt, blotting, waterproof glue, and print transferring. My works are often very detailed, delicate and colorful pieces that are a part of a series or diptych following a major theme. Drawing from my personal life, media, and current events, I create work that best exemplifies the human experience with nature and conflict. With the combination of the figure, naturalistic colors, organic elements, detailed line work, and patterns, I invite the viewer to place themselves in my work and relate it to their own personal experiences.
