Kamaria A. Wilson Born: August 5, 1986 Born: Boston, MA Raised: Portland, OR Singer and songwriter since age 6 and notorious for harmony and an upbeat rhythm, Kamaria has emerged as a fine vocalist and lyricist of her time. Kamaria’s strong love for pop culture helped cultivate her widely enjoyable music, infused with folk, pop and Jazz. She is a contemporary artist with the full package- looks, charm, and talent. Born in Boston, MA in 1986, Wilson considers Portland, OR to be home. After moving to Oregon at age 4, she began her career in the Arts, unfailingly shooting for the lead in school plays, auditioning for bands and competing in vocal and music competitions. She sought the ear of most she encountered. She was known for the question, “ Do you want to hear my song”, ready to perform for an audience at the drop of a hat. She learned confidence through the push and support of family and friends who believed in her voice and talent and by singing and writing daily. Wilson also invested time in learning at the Girls Rock Institute as a pre-teen and Ethos Music Center. At 16 she traveled to Seattle, Washington where she auditioned for American Idol and plans to do the same in April 2011 for the new show the X Factor. In 2009, Kamaria was blessed the opportunity to open for comedian Dave Chappelle at Pioneer Square in Portland, Oregon, a month prior performing on stage with “Art” Alexakis of Ever Clear at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall just blocks away. Concurrently, she performed as Addaperle in Stumptown Stages rendition of the Wiz for a 3 month period. This was the summer before moving back East to Boston, MA to start her first year at Berklee College of Music, the school of Esperanza Spalding and John Mayer to name a few of America’s icons. Now a student at Berklee College of Music, she looks forward to earning her degree in songwriting and performance. She also hopes to write and co-write jingles for commercials and T.V episodes with some of America’s top writers like Stan Wentzel and Steven Ray Allen who wrote the jingle “Sleep Country USA! Why buy a mattress anywhere else?”, one of her favorites. Kamaria’s time in Oregon was worth the venture; learning from the talented Julianne Johnson at Portland Community College, working as a musician and teacher, at the time building her fan base. Kamaria is a talented, outspoken and motivated. She stays enthused about the future a head and of course her ever-developing musicality leading her up the road to success, to stardom.
