Visual Art – Austin

Art has always been in my soul. From performing childhood plays, to singing, to my passion for taking photos, I embraced my creative desires early on in life. I would compose poems, stories, love letters - you name it, and had considered writing “my art.” In college, I took a few years off to travel, moving away from my Midwestern roots to a Caribbean island, snatching up a job as a snorkeling instructor with a boat excursion company. I guided vacationers around some of the most mind-blowing islands, exploring the beautiful world that exists below sea-level. Emersion in water rejuvenates my creative spirit, restoring my awareness. Like swimming, painting for me, is an all-body interaction, where fluid movements and graceful repetitions converge, resulting in an exquisite form of creative expression. Using various acrylic mediums on canvas, my style is abstract, flowing with dramatic tones, contrasting colors, embedded textures and swirling layers. My paintings are intuitive by nature, without calculated intent. I consider my work free of the quintessential purpose, promotions or statements, but rich with emotional depth, impressions and the undercurrent of experiences. I’m eternally grateful to my good friend and Art by Artwest collaborator, Brandi Fisher, who roused this newfound passion of mine with a simple question less than a year ago – “come paint with me in my garage.” Before that night, I had never even held a paintbrush. For that reason, I am a RAW artist. I hope you enjoy my work.
