Kamila Gornia

Photography – Chicago

Kamila Gornia is a young girl living in Chicago. Growing up in Poland, she spent little time in front of the television and most of her time reading and drawing up different manga characters. She has been creative all her life, never taken any art classes, but going through life with a pencil in hand and drawing in all of her free time. When she received a computer at the age of 10, she learned the power of Paint and would transfer her drawing from free-hand to digital. When she came to America at the age of 13, she was then also first introduced to Photoshop which totally expanded her imagination and broadened the possibilities of digital art. She enhanced her own work, as well as creating brochures and flyers for school events just for fun. When she was a junior in high school, she took an Introductory Photography class which did not faze her much at first. It was until she started taking the camera out in the field and taking pictures on her own time with her own ideas in mind, is when she realized the beauty of photography as an art form. With a generous gift from Santa one Christmas, she started experimenting with her first Nikon dSLR and taking pictures of her friends and applying her already developed photo editing skills. Kamila really fell in love with taking photos of people and being able to show emotion through a model and the post-processing work. Kamila has considered herself a photographer for the past 2 and a half years, and she describes her photo style as having two completely different sides: dark and light. Her dark side includes conceptual and creative edits which often involve themes of sex, anger, gore, and just random “weird stuff”. Her light side is more used during her photo shoots of more glamour and fashion style, having a delicate, romantic and soft lighting and colors. In addition to photography, she has recently begun creating stop motion videos made up entirely of separetely post-processed photographs. On the weekends, she is an event/party photographer.
