Khalil Riddick

Visual Art – Richmond

My name is Khalil Riddick. I am originally from New York City, and have been drawing since about age 7. Most days I feel as though I am not from the planet Earth. I find myself constantly disappointed by our society\'s preoccupation with the absurd and pointless, rampant consumerism and the detriments of being a capitalist society driven by profit and greed. I believe that we can be better. There are myriad reasons as to why much of my art is focused on transhumanism as the primary theme. Transhumanism is a cultural and intellectual movement that has the ultimate goal of drastically changing the human condition through the development and streamlining of technologies that would greatly increase humans\' intellectual, physical and psychological capacities. This movement is often abbreviated by H+ or h+. I have been called a futurist, technologist, transhumanist and even a reductionist. The truth is that I am simply a turbo nerd from the 90\'s with great optimism for a future in which we, as a civilization, get this whole existence thing right. We may even become a space-faring race one day and do magnificent things, the likes of which have never been seen or done by mankind before. My goal is to convey this message through my art.
