Kiki Rose Embroidery

Visual Art – New York - NYC

My name is Caroline and I'm from White Plains, where I'm attending SUNY Purchase and training to be an opera singer. I started to embroider about a year ago as a way to destress from long days of rehearsal and to have another creative outlet. But soon it became something much bigger, and I launched Kiki Rose Embroidery in January of 2017! When I started Kiki Rose Embroidery, I wanted to find a way to combine handmade art with my passion for music, and one of the first items I listed was my custom music pendants. Some of my other favorite projects include: realistic birds (including a puffin, a warbler, a heron, and an owl) made using a technique called "stump work" that raises the embroidery up off the fabric; oceanscapes inspired by my hometown of Mount Desert Island, Maine; a series of custom hoops inspired by Tarot cards, and rainbow sequin patches that say "ANXIOUS", made to help end the stigma surrounding mental health (half of the proceeds from these patches are donated to Mental Health First Aid USA, an organization that offers FREE classes on mental health education and helping people in crisis.) Most of my portfolio is made up of custom, one-of-a-kind creations. If you have ANY idea for a custom hoop, necklace, pair of earrings, or patch, we can work together to make it happen! I love the collaborative nature of custom work, and how what we come up with together is often better than anything we could do individually. At the show I'll have a big portfolio of my previous work and order forms if you have something particular in mind. Check out my Instagram @kiki.rose.embroidery for process photos and a behind the scenes look, I try to post everyday! Nice to meet you and thanks for stopping by!
