Music – Atlanta
Atlanta-based and Miami-born, Kori James is no stranger to change. He navigated his way through the Florida foster care system after losing his mother at an early age. He used the comforting melodies of Ella Fitzgerald and Brandy as an escape and inspiration. When he decided to take a chance and put his all into his career in music, there was very little choice besides leaving Tallahassee, FL, where he was attending college, to settle in the South's musical jewel– Atlanta.
As a songwriter, Kori wrote hundreds of songs meant for other artists before realizing it was time for another change. It was time for him to deliver the words he held so close to heart on his own, as an artist. Starting with the release of Write On, Kori, a project of song demos rejected by other artists, Kori focused more on crafting his own sound. In 2016, Kori released his debut EP Tomorrow, a sincere and unique alt-R&B project, to glowing reviews from Huffington Post, ThisIsRnB, and Bossip, to name a few. As he readies his next set, prepares to tour, continues to write and produce for other artists, and eyes expanding his brand further into entrepreneurship, tomorrow has never looked brighter for the multi-talented musician.
In July 2017, Kori announced a new project was on the horizon. His visual project entitled "SHIFT" and new single "Right Here With Me" will not only mark the dawn of a new musical day for the ever-evolving artist but also mark an artist who is sharpening one of his strongest skill sets - telling an amazing story people can feel and relate to.
