Photography – Houston

My work is directed toward human behavior with personal struggle. Every person on the planet deals with a personal struggle, no matter how powerful or successful they appear to be. It is part of our universal human experience. These challenges are how each of us explores and addresses our personal growth and makes us aware. Over the years, I have become so intrigued by documenting not only my own, but the personal struggles of everyone around me through photography. I am not really interested in what someone is saying in public, or what social mask they have on. I am interested in what they are hiding, why they are hiding it, and how I can turn that into a photograph. I love what I do because I really get to know myself as an artist and work through difficult subjects to create this beautiful body of work that means something. The audience is allowed to connect in any way they choose, depending on what struggles they are coping with. My photography is a way to further heal myself, to identify with hidden qualities of my character, to better understand my reality, and to express my interpretation of the world around me, and the world after me. Everyone has a story, and while mine is being written, I am honored and excited to be able to document and share the beautiful stories of others. I will continue striving to make art about those stories.
