I am a self-taught artist in Orange County, with a new-found desire to reach a wider audience with my hand-painted furniture for children and adults. That's a lot of hyphenates, isn't it? Oh well. I've been painting and experimenting for over 20 years, but have only recently truly found my voice and my vision, taking my one-of-a-kind designs and wrapping them around a chair, a stool, a table--bending reality with whimsy and a whole lot of imagination. Painting on a 3-dimensional "canvas" challenges me to create a scene, tell a story, and adapt it to the shapes and planes of the piece in a way that both makes sense, and is entirely improbable. I want my pieces to be personal, functional, whimsical, and beautiful. Useable art. That's my thing.
INSPIRATIONS
My kids, with their senses of practical logic that somehow blends with their unwavering belief in magic and wonder. I always get their opinions on my pieces, and they're (almost) always right. Plus they're kinda completely adorable.
My family is my support network, my cheerleading squad, my team of collaborators, and my sounding board. I couldn't do this without my husband, my parents, my best friends. I should probably give them a percentage, since I don't make a move without consulting them.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT RAW
Still figuring that out! Just discovered RAW so don't know much yet...but I adore the concept and the support for all of us struggling artists!
MAKES MY WORLD GO ROUND
Must have chocolate, a good book, some sweet tea; teaching my kids something new; laughing with my husband (usually about the kids...they're just funny!)
Singing and performing feeds my soul.
