Laura Bach, Stylist

Beauty – Santa Monica

have been a stylist for five years, in two states. I started my career with a full education from the original Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, founded by famous stylist and entrepreneur, Horst Rechelbacher. Upon my graduation, I was immediately hired by Juut Salon in the heart of Minneapolis, apprenticing in cutting, styling and formal hair arrangement for one year before becoming a cutting and styling specialist. My mentors consisted of many different styles and personalities, resulting in the discovery of my own unique perspective and identity as a person and as a stylist. From Juut, I also learned the 'Daymaker' philosophy that I carry with me and apply to my work every day--this philosophy revolves around the concept that as a stylist, I am also a caregiver, and in each situation have the potential to deeply impact a person's day and life through touch, communication and the quality of service that I provide. It is not about me, but about my client, each and every day. In September of 2007, I relocated to the world famous Hair Police. For the next two years, I began integrating color and, eventually, dreadlocks and hair extensions to my repertoire. Every day at Hair Police presented exciting challenges and opportunities for growth- clients would come from all over the United States, and even from other countries, for anything from the traditional and classic to the brand new and never done before. Cuts, curls, updos, dreadlocks, mohawks... students, servers, hipsters, mothers and grandmothers. There was no time, no room, for settling into my work. Every day was an adventure in hair. In 2010 I relocated from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Los Angeles, California in search of even greater challenges and opportunities. Now utilizing my experience in classic, contemporary, and edgy cutting, styling and color, I am able, through communication and technique and continuing education in my field, to give each unique client exactly what they want to see in their style, in their day, in their life.
