Visual Art – Charlotte
Laura Hartsell was born in Statesville, NC. She currently lives and works in Charlotte, NC.
Laura specializes in mixed media and abstract expressionism. Combining mediums such as painting, sculpture, and installation, she creates a dialogue between different classes in society and other ontological entities.
In her work there is a \"narrative of strangeness\", where she has developed her own visuals to express a narrative framework about outsider groups.
Her inspiration comes from the observations in the everyday, and the mundane images of a person interacting with the environment they have been conditioned for. The life around her helps produce her life in art.
Currently,Laura is setting up her first solo show. This will combine new and old work and hopes to debut later this summer.
Laura attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and graduated this year with a BFA in painting.
