Laura Luke

Visual Art – Northern Rivers

Laura Luke is an creative visionnaire who finds freedom in every glide of ink. Armed with an array of pencils, a surfboard and her vivid curiosity for experience, Laura\'s visual commentary portrays her profound fascination for the human condition whilst fueling her sense of connectedness with herself, others and her environment. Grief had became an overbearing component for Laura over the years, with the loss of her two siblings on separate occasions. This saw the abandonment of her beloved craft for many years and creative refuge was sourced through alternative means such as travel, fashion design, animation and graphic design and secondary teaching which all fell short of offering her the stimulation derived from drawing. It wasn\'t until the first day of high school prac last year that Laura found herself, again, questioning her life choices! And, in that moment she surrendered to her gifts by allowing herself to dance to the freedom of her lead snapping love affair of drawing. The beautiful creatures that roam our earth have become Laura\'s central focus of exploration where she illustrates animals to personify and illuminate the very nature of human existence. Visual thinking is a unique intelligence that by \"seeing\" requires greater attention than what we normally apply to living. Laura\'s seeing is the result of making sense of a part of the world.
