Visual Art – San Jose

I grew up in the central valley with my immediate family only. I have no first memories of being introduced to art, for me art was something that just always was. My father did art, my sister did art, my mother made things and was artistic. I have vivid memories of sitting on a wooden bench with my sister while she drew a princess and a mermaid, I was trying to copy her. The memory of my emotions, the intensity of my frustration, the tight grips of my desperation and the fear. The fear that I would never be like them, that I couldn\'t be like them was something I could never forget. My initial reasons for wanting to create art was my want to be like my dad and sister, I wanted to be in the club. This upbringing has had a huge impact on the person I am today and because of that, I find I draw some of my artistic insight from the blurry memories of my childhood.
