Leslie Cartaya

Music – Miami

Leslie Cartaya makes her soloist debut with “No Pares” (Don’t Stop) Traditional Cuban music runs in her veins, jazz and American funk have shaped her artistic personality. Born in Cuba, Leslie Cartaya decided to begin her solo career with her first record production “No Pares”. Caribbean, AfroAmerican, AfroLatin, and LatinAmerican musical rhythms create a harmonious fusion in “No Pares”, a 19 track production, 18 of which are written and composed by Leslie. “In this CD, my first experience as co producer and musical arranger, I had the opportunity of working with renowned musicians who supported me every step of the way” says this attractive brunette who defines herself as a happy, adventurous, inquisitive, expressive, but most of all perfectionist woman. Singing is Leslie’s best therapy. “Singing has always been a natural process of communication for me…I love to compose and be able to express what I think and feel, what I experience and observe”. For Leslie, to sing with such artists as Luis Enrique, Marisela Verena, Larry Harlow, Steve Roitstein and Ed Calle is a blessing. The fact that The Miami New Times considered “Palo” as the best band in 2012, and one of The Miami Herald’s most notable journalist, Arturo Arias, commented that “Leslie doesn’t stop”, are of great significance to Leslie and stimulate her to write and compose…an art that she has been fortunate to share with Jorge Luis Piloto, Elain, Descemer Bueno, Haka, Alexis Valdes, Roly y Pepin Rivero among others.
