Born the day before Halloween in 1970. It has been a great life thus far! Currently I reside in Portland, OR with my lovely wife Tamara. Day job - Mechanical Engineer. I was raised in Montana, and I highly recommend it.
Work experience includes, but not limited to, dishwashing, pizza cook, stock-boy, commercial fisherman, carpenter, and beaucoup Engineering. I’ve had my share of university with lots of math, science, languages, and general education. My Bachelor degree is from Montana State University, and my Masters is from The Johns Hopkins University.
Among other things I dig traveling, languages, reading sci-fi, rugby, and magic. I ride a mountain bike, and spent a few years drag racing motorcycles. Travels to Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Korea, Canada, and Mexico have been entertaining and enlightening.
Unlike a lot of magicians, I did not receive a magic kit as a kid which sparked interest in my craft. I picked up the magic-bug while recovering from an injury in 2003. I've been learning, practicing, and performing magic since then. I enjoy performing for people of all ages. Formal gigs are enjoyable, and street performing is a blast too - instant feedback!
INSPIRATIONS
Iain M. Banks, Gene Wolfe, Herbert Hoover, Edward Hopper, Bruce Lee, Mac King, The Clash, and My Dad Paul Lerner. My dad decided to spend some time in Europe. At seventy years old he up and moved to Spain. After a year there he stayed in Rome for another year...at the youth hostel. What a mensch!
I enjoy watching other performers. When they are good, and connect with the people they are trying to entertain, it is a real boost. If they bomb, well...there is some sort of inspiration there as well!
FAVORITE THING ABOUT RAW
I've only been to one RAW event. It was the middle of summer and sweaty hot! I enjoyed being blasted by the entire spectacle. I'm looking forward to the chance to be part of the next event in Portland. The crowd has good energy, and hopefully they'll enjoy the magic and entertainment I'll provide.
MAKES MY WORLD GO ROUND
My wife Tam is the bomb! I already mentioned my dad above, and I've got a great Mom (the greatest) as well as a couple of cool siblings.
My brother from another mother Zoltan is my best and oldest friend: I love seeing him happy.
I like music that is too loud, and all kinds: Pantera, Fat Freddy's Drop, Friendly Fires, Laura Nyro...I'm all over the map.
French food is my favorite type of cuisine.
Pastis, PBR, and bourbon (separately) are great to drink.
I love rugby...played it for twenty years. Now I'm watching others play and it is still great.
I like to know how things work.
Providing my patrons with a moment of astonishment is a real joy. Everybody could use some astonishment.
