Visual Art – Miami

LOXLEY STEWART, Originally a native of Jamaica,Came to the U.S. in 1994. It was then and there he became influenced by elements of poetry, hip hop music, and art. The starting point of his self expression actually began with poetry, learning from intellectual poets such as Langston Hughes who could uplift, empower, and inspire. He found the ability to transcend these qualities later on when he took up the task of writing, doing spoken word, and creating hip hop music . Hip Hop Music became one of his dominant outlets of self-expression. doing local shows and opening up for Hip Hop Acts such as O.C,Juggaknots,Akrobatic,Tash(of tha Alkaholiks), and DMC of Run-Dmc. Having the focused mentality to not just maintain but make progress, he would always try to push the boundaries of what his limits were. This became evident in his ability to freestyle, always testing his abilities to spontaneously whip words, topics, scenarios, and objects into constructive rhyme form. in 2007 he released a 18 track project all Freestyle called \"The Greatest Rhyme I Never Wrote\" then he decided to test his abilities once again, by entering the realm of painting using acrylics as his medium with no post experience of painting. He has now been painting over 4yrs running and has done showings at Art Basel Multiversal and at Art-Walk. The works of art he has created thus far shows the strong influence of his poetic, musical background, and bonds of friendship he has built. Through the development in his craft of painting, he has created a technique which he believes to be his own and is new to the art world. The ability to cross reference and transcend hidden images through light giving the illusion of transformation and movement in his paintings. This technique opens up new creative doors and possibilities for painting. With determination and a focused mind he strives to continue growing in his craft of music, art, poetry, and what ever the future may hold.
