My work exposes relationships between people and places that develop during and after events like divorce, alcoholism, displacement, domestic violence and rape, and the splintering effect those conditions have on memory. “Memory”: the loss of-, the lack of-, the borrowed, the selective, the shared, the stolen and the déjà vu. Through my work, I am having a conversation with my audience about interpretation and boundaries when it comes to the Black American family as an emotional and spiritual conglomerate dealing with upheaval, shock and distress. The leading perspective is that of sisters, daughters and mothers.\"
