Mamafrica

Mamafrica is a non-profit organization based out of Bukuvu, located in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Our purpose is to change the lives of the women in the DRC and the future of the children. We do this through offering Healing Arts Programs, Educational Classes and Economic Opportunities. This results in empowerment, community, sustainability, and generational change. our products are vibrant, beautiful, and well made . . . and we while we hope you enjoy them, we also hope you take the time to learn how they came about, the purpose behind them. The journey of one product is much deeper than some fabric, a sewing machine, and an African woman. The products you see on this site are the end result of the following circumstances, events and actions. In Swahili, the name Mama is the respectful word used to address a Mother. Mamafrica symbolizes all the Mamas coming together to create community. This community allows for a strong voice to be heard among the women, a purpose to emerge, and opportunities to be created. Change begins to take place . . . and more then ever, change is needed.
