Visual Art – Miami

Marlet Lopez is well known for her figurative art pieces in which she juxtaposes bold lines capturing people’s energy and emotion. At a very young age, in her native country of the Dominican Republic, she started showing a talent for sketching and painting so her parents decided to enroll her in a painting studio for kids, where she, not only learned basic art techniques, but also was able to participate in local art shows. At the age of 15 she studied fashion illustration but when she finished high school she decided to get her bachelors degree in Architecture; a career that years later brought her to Miami. While in Miami, she discovers a young community of artists in where she got inspired and decided to start painting again. In the past two years she has participated in several art exhibits around South Florida, including Wynwood, Miami Design District, Fort Lauderdale, and most recently, she did a live painting at Spectrum Art Fair during Miami Art Week 2017. Her latest collection is all about the conversion of shapes that capture the movement and interaction of the human behavior with faceless silhouettes demonstrating how their journeys meet and evolve.
