Accessories – St. Louis

It all started when I was playing with the idea of making my own exploding flower hat. A boutique owner saw the finished hat that I made to wear to tea party with my girlfriends, fell in love with it and wanted to carry my line in her store. In my life as an Artist, I’ve worn many hats, I consider hat-making a fine art along with the fine arts of painting and sculpture, as it uses both elements of form and color, plus it allows me to include the art of personal adornment. One small design element, such as a flower can inspire me to create a whole line of hats ranging from the silly to the sophisticated. I enjoy the design limits I set for myself, creating one-of-a-kind hats for special occasions to more everyday wearable hats with a touch of fun. The Art of Hat-making is to find a balance between fun and practicality, always keeping in mind wearability. I want all my hats to be worn. That is the fun of having them! ~ MaryAlice’s Palace
