Matt Ganem the Poet

Performing Art – Boston

A former heroin addict, I\'ve been clean for 6 years turning my words into hope for those still struggling with addiction, the author of The Shadow of an Addict a collection of poetry. Descriptively detailing vivid images from my past experiences in a way that people can relate to. A spoken word artist, I bring the words I put down on paper to life behind a mic. I have a four year old, handsome son who makes my world turn. I perform all around Boston at Poetry spots and for hip hop events as an opening act mixing poetry with the hip hop atmosphere. I was the first poet to perform at a Raw Boston event at The Blend in May. My favorite quote is be the change you seek in the world, so I put together my poetry about addition to give that struggling addict the courage and belief that if I can stop shooting heroin he or she can stop too. I want to see people get off drugs, I lived through the hell and through my writing I try to help share my strength and hope in a different way for people to see the struggle and I want people to understand that a drug addict could be anyone, your brother, sister, mother, father, friend or son and its a topic that has been over looked for far too long.
