Matthew "Sabey" Smith is the artist of Matthew.Sabey.Art and is a local artist from Phoenix, Arizona. Smith was born and raised just south of Boston, Massachusetts where he also received his Bachelors Degree in Studio Arts at Stonehill College located in North Easton, MA. Smith creates artwork that is meant to evoke a connection to the human condition while creating a unique emotional response from the audience. Through his kinetic strokes and use of vibrant colors, Smith has an unmistakable style. Whether it is his painting, drawing, printmaking, or sculpting; viewers will notice the fervent and emotional perceptions Smith elicits through his work. As an artist he pushes himself to create visualizations that make his viewers philosophize about topics that may seem "larger than life" or at times "taboo" within society. Smith's goal is for his audience to sit, think, and ponder about certain topics. To him, the purpose of his work is to create a meaningful experience for his audience with hopes that they leave with a new outlook or inspiration.
