Energy is described in physics as the ability to do work on a system. Through interaction, humanity as a system undergoes transfers of energy. This energy can be used to affect changes on the environment and whether the result is constructive or destructive depends on your perspective. The process of change is widely viewed as a dismantling process. It is natural to ground yourself, after investing so much time and energy into ego. When you resist change you are effectively creating a world based on facts, you are losing your ability to have or exhibit faith. More important, you are preventing yourself from the exploration that leads to self discovery. Others recognize how our mental obstacles can be traversed. They think outside of self imposed limitations. These are the people that can adapt and look at the world as a large canvas and are eager to paint with the understanding that nothing is concrete and everything can change in an instant. These people are mesmerized by life and are eager to explore its unknown complexities. That is why I use a variety of color in my work. Color is magnetic to me and it draws me in. Life is vibrant and screams for attention but so many people are in a sense \'colorblind\'. I want the color palate I choose to reflect the infinite shades that life can take on. I use oil because of similar principles. I was first attracted to oil paint because it is malleable and there are boundless ways to manipulate it across a blank canvas. Because it is so playful in the way it can smear, layer, and saturate a canvas, I find myself immersed in the creative process. It is a flow that seems natural, automatic, effortless, yet a highly focused state of consciousness. Oil suits my way of thinking perfectly: Just as in life, when you reach an impasse you must adapt in order to overcome, oil paint can adapt to an ever changing canvas. One brush stroke can change the entire tone and direction of a painting. I try to find a balance between brush strokes moving in symphony and those that stand still. It is a challenge to begin. How do I convey what is in the mind? A true artist is someone who can effectively translate that barrier between the mind and the physical. I have all the physical materials available, but how can anyone communicate a though a single depiction of their existence to an audience who’s ideas, realities, experiences, and perceptions are multitudinous? The obvious fear of being misunderstood should never halt an artist from expression. Being an artist is rooted in the ability to metamorphosis your observations of the world. Transformation of tangible to intangible comes from the exploration of emotion and paint unifying on canvas. I want my art to illicit an emotional response. Therefore, the goal of my artwork is to capture and demonstrate LIFE. It is YOURS to create. Enjoy!
