Miriam Rovirosa

I was born and raised in Miami, FL. In May of 2014 I graduated from Rollins College, receiving my bachelors degree in studio art. Growing up I always enjoyed creating many forms of art but never really saw myself becoming an artist. It wasn\'t until my sophomore year of college that I found myself surrounded with numerous art classes and had the realization that becoming an artist was the most important goal I wanted to accomplish. My work attempts to capture a person’s true personality, portraying the characteristic that I feel describes them best. I focus on painting people who are close to me and are significant in my life. Finding the face to be the most capable of evoking an immediate emotive response, my paintings attempt to engage the viewer by focusing exclusively on this feature. My work is not meant to force any particular emotion or feeling upon the viewer, but rather prompts him/her to build their own relationship with the portraits.
