Performing Art – Orlando

Motiv Crew is the brainchild of 16-year-old creative prodigy Marlee Hightower and is named after Orlando's first-ever all-hip hop dance studio, opened by her father, Marlon, in 2015. A gifted dancer since childhood, Marlee began teaching weekly at the studio, and as her classes grew, certain dancers began to stand out. She decided to form a group to compete in a local competition, and Motiv Crew was born. Motiv comprises eight hip hop dancers, four female and four male, ranging in age from 15 to 25. The group blends nationalities and cultures, and prides itself on its diversity and strong commitment to racial and gender equality. The choreography is hard-hitting, musically driven, and original, blending many street styles, including waacking, popping, locking, and house. Marlee also adds her signature quirkiness, inspired by her love of cult movies, fight scenes, and dark humor. Motiv Crew strives to be a role model for today's youth and prove that it's OK to be different.
