Visual Art – Boston
I have started working on a new series titled, “Enlarged Braille.” This concept came to me while brainstorming for two works of art for the Sensory Circus exhibit in February. One of the required pieces had to focus on just one bodily sense, I chose touch. Every day people use braille in a variety of circumstances. It is very small but helps the blind out tremendously. I have decided to take that formula of writing onto the canvas with the thought of slightly smaller billboard style braille. Once I created the first one, titled, “touch me” I knew I wasn’t done. Creating these touchable paintings is entrancing. I love that the viewers are then encouraged to feel what I have created.
These take days to complete. The hardest part is finding a safe place in my busy household for drying time (at least 48 hours). Once the piece is completely dry, then I seal it so that the audience may feel the braille.
I create work every moment, constantly pondering the next painting, sculpture or drawing. My artwork has been exhibited from Portland, ME, New York City, Culver City and Los Angeles, CA; in a variety of venues and galleries. My family has been ever supportive in my journey to share my artwork.
