Visual Art – San Diego

Growing up in the small town of Greeleyville, SC, I started painting as a small child. I can remember my teachers appreciating my art then and pushing me to do more. The older I got, the more attention I got for my artistic talent. I was accepted into The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities for the final years of grade school. This residential high school made me realize art can be more than career but, a way of life for me. I continued my art studies at Ringling College of Art & Design and The Art Institute of Charleston. I don’t believe I have a specific style. When I paint I do what feels right to me through mood, motion, and balance. I am conscious of my composition, the placement, and the balance, but I also paint through mind-set. I usually paint with music and my body reacts to the music’s mood and rhythm. The colors I’m using, the subject matter, the texture, and the overall feel of my paintings are products of my physical and mental surroundings. What I love most about painting is how in tuned I get with my body and intellect, which helps me, release energy. Whether it’s positive or negative, painting physically and visually helps me express myself. I recently moved to San Diego, CA where I am hoping to continue gaining knowledge for my art career.
