Visual Art – Austin

I am a scientist by profession. Currently, I am finishing my PhD at UT Austin in molecular genetics and microbiology. Specifically I study evolution, using bacteria as a model organism. I grew up in San Diego, but got into a bit of trouble and was sent to a reform school at 14-years-old. Afterwards, I didn’t want to move home and have lived in Northern California, New York, and Boston, before finishing my Bachelors degree in biology and moving to Austin to pursue my doctorate. I’ve been doing art for friends and family for many years. I’m self-taught and have actually only taken a single art class my freshman year of high school. Since then I’ve been learning as I go and was happily surprised when I began painting to realize that I was good at it. I’m interested in getting my work out into the world now.
