Before my inner fashion designer presented herself, I wanted to be a doctor. I even completed a year of pre-med classes! Luckily, that inner fashionista pushed her way to the surface and has been there ever since. When I design I strive to evoke the beauty as well as the darkness of nature. I design all of my own prints. The prints I design are all made from pictures of nature. You can find moths, moss, orchids, storm clouds or even crystals in my prints! But I always hide an element of darkness with the beauty. Maybe a skull concealed by flowers or a crow hidden amongst some gems.
I spontaneously drape my work. This means I start designing without an idea in mind. I manipulate the fabric until I am satisfied with the design I have sculpted. I also love working natural materials such as bone, feathers, plants, and dried flowers into my designs.
I ultimately want my garments to be pieces of art. I want people to have an emotional connection to my work. There is no feeling better than making someone smile through the power of art."
