Zan Morris, a recent graduate from UCLA with a degree in International Development Studies and a minor in Latin American Studies, is truly a, “woman of many hats,” but is best known for her invigorating nature photography. Her artwork has been featured in UCLA’s Northern Lights on four occasions and is currently on display at the John Wooden Center on the UCLA campus. Nature photography has been her passion since 2008, when she took her very first “flower portrait” of a Cala
Lily in Oakland, CA. At that time, Zan was suffering from a neurological disease. She found that nature was not only beautiful to photograph, but spending time outside in the natural world actually improved her health. Nature photography become medicine to her soul and served as a major stepping-stone on her journey towards health and wellness.
Zan’s photography is purchased throughout northern and southern California. She sells framed prints, but she also creates yearly calendars and greeting cards using her nature images. Zan is currently looking to take the Digital Photography Certificate Program through UC Berkeley Extension, in order to increase her knowledge of technical skills.
Zan’s other love, poetry, has led to the publication of two original poetry books: “Humans Suffer, Spirits Evolve” (currently off the market) and “Love-Beauty Mind Thoughts,” which is available for purchase at Lulu.com. “Love-Beauty Mind Thoughts” is a compilation of photography and poetry. Aside from photography, Zan has worked for various NGO’s, on a feature-length film, at Pixar Animation Studios, for the Plant Gene Expression Center Science Lab, as a celebrity assistant and for an insurance company.
