My name is Leora Michal Alk (commonly known as Leora Michal in the art community), and I am a 21-year-old artist driven by emotion, devoted to dreaming, and forever fascinated by the human experience. I have been drawing for almost as long as I have been breathing, and it has never occurred to me to stop. As a senior in high school, I entered an advanced placement studio art class after being previously self-taught: it opened up so many new worlds for me.
Lately I have been immersed (both figuratively and somewhat literally) in that of oil paint, and have also made recent forays into the realm of sculpture. My aesthetic style has elements of both realism and surrealism, but I am still experimenting stylistically, for one never stops learning or enhancing their craft. I find subject matter in my past experiences, dreams, and the objects, people, and places in them: nothing is out of the question or irrelevant to my work. There are also many, many artists within pop-surrealism culture that drive me into a world of creativity, and inspire me to become as inspirational to others as they have been to me.
My current work is about women expressing their sexuality, and it is my hope that the paintings that have emerged from this focus evoke in my viewers the complex emotions that created them.
