I've been sewing forever! My grandmother taught me to sew. I then went to Fashion Design School in Houston to round out my skills and fashion history knowledge.
Over the years, I've worked in almost every field in the fashion industry learning more along the way. The one lesson that stood out to me, as I worked in a mass production company, was there's simply too much waste, too much fabric being produced adding to the waste stream. I've always been drawn to older fabrics so I decided to feed that desire and began sewing with recycled, reclaimed fabrics. Their textures are rich in history and feeling. Especially lace, a favorite of mine. This allows me to create more one of a kind pieces making each garment as unique as the person wearing it. I've always hated going to an event and seeing someone in the same dress!
I definitely can recreate a design, I make all my patterns. But even though the design may be the same, the garment will be unique because of the fabric; my fabrics are gleaned from estate sales, thrift stores and the like.
