FASHION: Moorea Seal

Written by

My name is Moorea Seal and I am a jewelry designer, small business owner, and juggler of many creative outlets.  In addition to designing jewelry, I am a freelance illustrator/graphic designer, professional blogger, and a blog designer for Freckled Nest Design.  I thrive when I have my hands in many creative fields and I gain inspiration for each medium by learning new concepts and skills from one and applying to the other.

I began designing jewelry while working as an artist’s assistant for the Seattle based sculptor John Grade in 2009.  While in college, I focused mostly in 2D art forms.  But after I graduated with my B.A. in Illustration, and while working as an artist’s assistant, I fell in love with the idea of creating sculptures on a small scale which lead me to jewelry making.  For a brief stint in college, I had been an apparel design major, and when my background in fashion, art, and design combined, jewelry designing was the perfect fit.

My jewelry line is heavily inspired by northwestern cities and the tree lined mountains, balancing the wild yet delicate elements of nature with the sharp, clean, modern and sophisticated styling of the sparking emerald city.  I design my jewelry for the northwestern woman who loves the city just as much as she loves the woods, someone who likes to dress up without being over done, and someone who balances femininity with a bit of edge.

Moorea Seal jewelry is stocked in stores internationally and can be found at http://www.mooreaseal.etsy.com online.  Feel free to visit my blog, http://www.moorea-seal.com, to follow my artistic life, documenting the work I create, sharing links to my inspiration, and offering encouraging words to those who have or are planning on turning their art into their career.
